Demonstrated Interest
Like many other admission practices, this hot topic is different at each school you might be considering! While some schools track any and all engagement, from website clicks to visits, others schools simply do not have the time to assess. Some schools require visits, and others may never know if you visit 0 times or 10. As always, it is important to know the admission criteria each school considers. Regardless, there are some practices you can adopt that won’t hurt your application at most places - like visiting, following up with the admission office, and reading your emails!
Feel free to ask admission representatives about demonstrated interest, but rather than get hung up on “how much” it is valued, simply engage with the schools to which you are applying. At the very least, you are walking away with more knowledge of the school, and continuing to establish a sense of fit at each institution. Pay attention to the language on admission websites - like whether interviews are “recommended”, “strongly encouraged”, etc. Anything that is recommended is always a good idea to check off your list!
